- WebP is already small — why compress further?
- Even WebP files from cameras or exports can be optimized further. Re-compressing at a tuned quality level often cuts 20–40% with no visible loss.
- Is the conversion private?
- Yes. Your files are processed securely and deleted after conversion. We never share your photos.
- Is there a file size limit?
- Free accounts can upload files up to 50 MB. Paid users can upload up to 200 MB.
- What quality should I use?
- Around 80 is a good balance for photos, and 60–70 still looks fine for thumbnails and previews. Very high values (95 and up) grow the file quickly with little visible gain.
- Why did my WebP lose fine texture after compressing?
- At lower qualities the encoder smooths away fine grain and texture first. Raise the quality to 85–90 for texture-heavy photos such as fabric, foliage or skin.
- The file barely shrank — why?
- The source WebP was probably already encoded efficiently, so recompressing at a similar quality gains little. Choose a clearly lower quality, or reduce the pixel dimensions first with the Resize Image tool.
- Can I compress a batch of WebP files?
- Signed-in users can batch-compress up to 5 files on the free plan and up to 100 on a paid plan, downloaded together as a ZIP.
